Hello, writer.

Let’s Find YOU

Behind the Page.

My philosophy

Editors aren’t writers or critics, but we help bridge the world between your dream and its actualization, guiding your story away from ambiguity, amateurism, and the little voice saying, “you can’t.”

My Booking Process

  • 1) Vibe Check

This is literally just a chat and we can talk about whatever you want (ask me about Italy!) In this way, we get to know each other’s communication styles, preferences, and goals.

  • 2) Assessment

This goes both ways! You’ll send me the first 3 chapters of your manuscript, on which I’ll make an editorial diagnosis, project a delivery date, and perform a free sample edit based on the service you’re interested in.

All editors reserve the right to decline a project, which can occur in this phase.

  • 3) Contract

Tedious, but vital, a contract is the industry standard, protecting you the writer and myself the editor. Work will NOT continue until the terms are agreed upon and both parties have signed.

Here you’d select a payment option.

  • 4) Editing

Email your manuscript to me in Word format, pour some wine, and relax! This is the easiest part for you, during which you’ll have unlimited access to me for any questions.

About Sherlock & I

My name’s Olivia and I’d be thrilled to be a part of your writing team. I’m a current member of the Editorial Freelance Association and can be found in their directory.

From a young age, I didn’t know a time in my life without reading or writing of some kind. I was the kid in school who loved the things most people hated: grammar, composition, and the structures within structures of writing technique.

I went on to have a 10+ year career in TV/Film production as a DGA Assistant Director, where I worked with some of the biggest personalities in Hollywood on such projects as Grey’s Anatomy, Winning Time, and Star Wars: Skeleton Crew.

Grateful and content, I returned to my first love—composition—with a favorite literary character as inspiration. Sherlock Holmes is a detective consultant the way I’m a writing consultant. We love the process just as much as the resolution.

My passion is for storytellers, to instill confidence, and strengthen their authorial voice.

FAQs

No one’s ever read my story. Is that okay?

It’s wonderful! There are no prerequisites for being a writer. Your dream of having a book signing at Barnes & Noble is just on the other side of letting someone constructively read that first page.

Does our vibe check have to be on the phone?

Absolutely not. We can connect in whatever way is most comfortable for you. Email, DM, phone—you’re in control of this process. I work for you. It’s that simple.

Do you only edit completed manuscripts?

Certainly not, and that’s why my rates are “per word.” Whether it’s a paragraph, a page, a chapter, an act, or a series, where you want help is where I go.

Who’s your favorite Sherlock—Basil, Benedict, or RDJ?

Despite having been condensed to a silhouette, Sherlock Holmes is a complex and nuanced character. There’s a lot to unpack and each rendition focuses on slightly different facets of that character. I enjoy them all for sundry reasons and each are legends in their own right. (Book a vibe check and we can play FMK, if you so desire.)

What are your favorite genres?

I’m a mood reader, but high fantasy, romantasy, thriller, and mystery are the genres I return to the most! Level of detail, narrative complexity, and high-pressure plot devices are my favorite ways to escape reality.
